10 Crafts of the Heart

I know the old cliché of Valentines day being sort of corny but
really the kids love expressing love and sharing their hearts. So
today I want to share 10 very simple and easy Valentine Crafts.
Crafts of the Heart.....

1. Snowman- It's funny how kids find love in the funniest places.
My little one created this snow sculpture with her little hands.
She added Grapes for eyes and a carrot nose so the birds could
share in her creation. Sometimes Heart crafts come in the oddest

2. Stained Glass hearts- Copy your favorite Heart coloring page
and allow you little ones to tear colored tissue paper to make
stained glass hearts. You will need to pour a small amount
of glue into a container and add a bit of water. Apply glue
using a paint brush.

3. Gluing Conversation hearts- You can find various coloring pages
Online to sort out the colors of the hearts or you can glue them onto card
stock to make your own statements. Children would also enjoy creating
heart collages and using the candy hearts as part of their art.

4. Loving Lions- You can also use pink and purples if you want a more
Valentine feel. Cut out a large heart for the head and smaller one for the
nose. Cut stripes of paper for the lions mane and paste him all together.
Children can add their own eyes and whiskers. Sure makes some from
refrigerator Art.

5. Love Birds- Have children show a little love to our feathered friends. Make
pretend birds nests with paper plates. Paint them brown and add things to your
nest that birds might use to create their nests. Such as yarn or feathers. Then
add mini birds to your plates. Children might also enjoy making bird feeders
with pinecones. Cover them with peanut butter and roll them in bird feed.
Birds need love this time of year too.

6. Valentine messages- These are so fun to do. Write with a white crayon
and press firmly. Then water color paint over them to share your secret
love message. My kids did X  - Kisses and O hugs.

7. Love Bugs- Cut and glue hearts of various sizes. Have children
line them up to create their own love bugs. Use pipe cleaners for
antennas. Children decorate as desired.

8. Ladybugs - Those little red bugs always remind me of love.
Cut a piece of black paper and roll it. Tape the roll together.
Cut a round oval for the lady bugs face and add it to the front.
Add big wiggle eyes and pipe cleaner antenna. You can make
heart wings or cut big red wings for you bug and add black spots.
The kids will love wearing their lady but bracelets.

9. Beaded pipe cleaners- Very simple craft shape the pipe cleaners
into a heart shape and add beads as desired. Great fine motor
skills for little hands.

10. Valentine Play dough-

1 cup flour
1 cup warm water
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon oil
1/4 cup salt
food coloring
Mix all ingredients, adding food coloring last. Stir over medium heat until
smooth. Remove from pan and knead until blended smooth. Place in plastic
bag or airtight container when cooled. Will last for a long time.

He formed the balls to make them . Then added glitter heart
stickers to the top and sequins around the sides. After this photo
I put them in plastic bags with ribbons around the tops to keep
the dough soft for playing.

I hope you enjoyed our 10 Valentine Crafts.

Warm Blessings,
